General Evaluator

Role Overview

As General Evaluator, you evaluate everyone who doesn't already have an evaluator - the Toastmaster, all helping roles (Timer, Grammarian, Ah-Counter, Sergeant at Arms, etc.), and meeting setup elements. You also lead the evaluation team and manage the evaluation segment.

Who You Evaluate

Individuals Without Evaluators

  • Toastmaster: Energy, introductions, transitions, time management
  • All Helping Roles: Timer, Grammarian, Ah-Counter, Sergeant at Arms, App Master, Joke Master, Quiz Master, etc.
  • Meeting Setup: Room arrangement, materials preparation, technology
  • Meeting Elements: Overall flow, organization, atmosphere

What You Don't Evaluate

  • Speakers (they have speech evaluators)
  • Table Topics participants (they have Table Topics Evaluator)

During the Meeting

Take Individual Notes

For each person you're evaluating, note:
  • One strength: What they did well
  • One improvement: Something specific they could work on
  • One challenge: How they could stretch themselves next time

Sample Note-Taking

Toastmaster (John): Great energy and smooth transitions. Could improve: introductions were a bit long. Challenge: try adding more interaction with audience.

Timer (Sarah): Clear signals and accurate timing. Could improve: hold cards higher for better visibility. Challenge: try adding brief explanation of timing purpose.

Sergeant at Arms (Mike): Welcoming presence and good meeting setup. Could improve: check microphone levels before meeting. Challenge: try adding brief club introduction for guests.

Meeting Highlights (1-2 minutes): Note 2-3 overall meeting strengths

Wrap-up (30 seconds): Thank everyone and celebrate the learning atmosphere
