The Five-Level Structure
Every Pathways learning path uses the same five-level progression system, moving from basic skills to advanced mastery.
Level 1: Mastering Fundamentals
- Focus: Building basic skills and comfort with speaking
- Projects: Ice Breaker speech plus 2-3 introductory projects
- Time: Typically 2-4 months
Start here regardless of your experience level. Learn club procedures and basic speech organization.
Level 2: Learning Your Style
- Focus: Discovering your communication preferences
- Projects: Research-based projects and style exploration
- Time: Typically 3-5 months
Explore different presentation formats and learn to incorporate feedback effectively.
Level 3: Increasing Knowledge
- Focus: Expanding skills with more complex projects
- Projects: Mix of required projects and your choice of electives
- Time: Typically 4-6 months
Begin taking leadership roles and deepen your path-specific expertise.
Level 4: Building Skills
- Focus: Advanced application and mastery
- Projects: Wide variety of complex projects to choose from
- Time: Typically 4-7 months
Master complex communication situations and begin mentoring other members.
Level 5: Demonstrating Expertise
- Focus: Capstone projects and teaching others
- Projects: High-impact leadership project plus path completion project
- Time: Typically 3-6 months
Demonstrate mastery of your path while contributing to others' development.
