How to Choose

Step 1: Assess Your Goals

Ask yourself:
  • What do I want to achieve professionally?
  • Which skills would benefit me most?
  • What aspects of communication do I struggle with?
  • Where do I see myself in 5 years?

Step 2: Take the Assessment

Pathways offers an online assessment that suggests paths based on your answers. While helpful, it's not mandatory to follow its recommendation.

Step 3: Consider Your Role

  • New Members: Leadership Development or Presentation Mastery
  • Managers: Dynamic Leadership or Effective Coaching
  • Sales/Business: Persuasive Influence or Strategic Relationships
  • Creative Roles: Innovative Planning or Engaging Humor

Step 4: Talk to Members

Discuss with experienced members who've completed different paths. Their insights can be invaluable.

Making the Most of Your Path

Remember, the path is a guide, not a race. Take time to practice and apply what you learn between projects.

Pace Yourself

  • Complete one project every 2-4 weeks
  • Practice skills outside meetings
  • Reflect on feedback before moving forward

Engage Fully

  • Volunteer for roles that complement your path
  • Seek speaking opportunities aligned with your projects
  • Apply learnings in your professional life

Track Progress

  • Keep a learning journal
  • Document your improvements
  • Celebrate milestones

Switching Paths

You can switch paths if:

  • Your goals change
  • You want to explore different skills
  • Your initial choice doesn't resonate

There's no penalty for switching, though you'll start the new path from the beginning.

Path Completion

Each path typically includes:

  • 5 Levels of increasing complexity
  • 14-16 projects total
  • Required and elective projects
  • A final "Path Completion" project

Average completion time: 1-2 years with regular participation

Don't rush through projects just to complete the path. The real value comes from practicing and integrating the skills.
